There is nothing as satisfying as riding trails you have built yourself. The best way to get a place to ride is to put a spade in the ground and start digging.

Invite-only

Most trails are built on private land and are “invite-only”. The best way to get an invite to someone else’s spot is to invite them to yours.

Bike parks

As a beginner, or someone who is just getting into trails, it is also good to ride trails that someone else has built. Fortunately there are a growing number of bike parks around the UK that have dirt jumps and jump trails, which can be a great introduction.

Trail etiquette

If you find trails, do not ride without explicit permission from a local builder. Riding on dry, un-watered dirt or turning up without helping maintain the spot is a major breach of trail etiquette.

No Dig, No Ride

If you want to ride trails, you should expect to put in the work to build and maintain them.
